>The picture below is the window as a whole. A little searching on Google leaves me unsatisfied that I'm using the correct term when I refer to the "crown" on the window - I think "hood" may be the correct term - but it's characteristic of the Edwardian houses in this area (Queen Anne, etc.). I cut the metal flashing a bit long; it should just barely hang below the board against which the molding sits at the top.

Windows - not the computer program

>Well, that bathroom is slated for a complete re-do some time in the next couple of years, and what I did with this window was in the way of an experiment, to see if the molding looked legitimate. We've got at least ten other windows to replace, not to mention the sitting room, which is practically all windows*, but will most likely get completely redone and lose some of them. Though it's not right away, we're probably doing the bedroom window next, unless we do one of the living room - in either case, they're 4 by 5 foot windows, split 1/3-2/3 double hung, that we'll need to spend serious money on replacing. I'm planning to try a tilt-pac on those, since the window frames are in decent shape.

We've got ambitious plans - refreshing kitchen and both bathrooms, for starters - though we're still trying to decide whether to stay here or move. Arguments both ways - we know this house and neighborhood, but it's right off Main Street and kind of noisy. A little serenity would be nice.

*My brother-in-law points out that it's a truly California room - practically windows, as I say, starting about 2 feet off the floor, and going to the ceiling; but it's also got the fireplace in it. Any heat the fireplace generates gets sucked out the window glass.
