bessey clamp problems

>Recently I posted that slipping Bessey clamps can be fixed by taking a turn on a hex socket screw inside the movable head. I was not correct. The grooves in the top of the bar, for a length of 1 or 2 inches have been smoothed-off. I must have overtightened the clamp. I emailed to Bessey and got no response. Any ideas?
