The Greenlee company is still in business though it is now owned by a German parent company. Greenlee made chisels long before they developed the Hardware handle. This handle was developed to answer the problem of socket chisel handles that wear out long before the chisel. These handles really are indestructable. You don't say what kind of chisel you have and I assume you are unaware that Greenlee made many types with the Hardware handle. I have butt, firmer and parer chisels with different sized and shaped handles. The handles vary in size according to the size of the chisel also. The size I'm still looking for is 1/8th". Greenlee made tang chisels in the Hardware handle and I have seen English made Greenlees that differ from Marples only by color. The butt chisel set I have came from a man whose father bought them in the 1960's. I figure Greenlee stopped making their own chisels after that time. The Hardware handle was made and sold separately as a replacement. The demise of socket chisels in the American market led to the end of the Hardware handle. The link below will give you some other avenues to pursue. I'd love to see a Greenlee catalog with the chisels in it but have not found one so far. Good luck. I really like my Greenlees. They look groovy beside my Millers Falls planes.

>Thanks. That was kinda my thought. Have gotten these lapped and sharpened in last 6 mos and have been using them on some small projects. I think they hold edge very well. Started chopping a set of DT's in cherry for a large project. Also been using set of Narex with same bevel and the Greenlee's hold up much better.
