DT's - Struggling a bit. Video Recommendation?
Joe in a Cleveland suburb
>Hi,
I've done a number of through DT's without too much trouble. I am trying to do half blind DT's for the first time and having a bit of trouble. I've read and re-read a number of FW articles and re-watched my Frank Klauz video (which doesn't show half blind DT's).
I tried (or am trying) pins first. Its going so-so but how do you get a good flat/level surface where the tail stops at the lap or shoulder line?
I think my problem(s) boils down to precision.
The pic below (I hope) is a work-in-progress shot. Am I on the right track?
Anyway, I thought watching a video would help. Reading about it just doesnt cut it (no pun intended). I seem to recall mention of the Rob Cosman videos here. I checked the Lie-Nielsen site and it shows two videos; one is "Hand-Cut Dovetails" for $20 and the other is "Advanced Hand-cut Dovetails" for $25. Guess you can buy both for $40, which I don't want to do right now.
Can you guys that have this video tell me about it? Did it really help you? Any advice on other videos?
Sorry. I guess I've asked a couple different questions...
Thank you.
Joe
