Plane iron camber using the Tormek
Todd from San Jose
>Hi guys and gals,
What's the best way to put camber into plane irons (mild to wild)?
Last night, I used my relatively new-to-me Tormek to put camber into a jack plane iron. I was shooting for about 1/16". I used the standard jig (SVS-60?). I just applied a lot more pressure on the edges than the center.
Is there a better / more efficient way to do this? Do you recommend a different Tormek jig for this? I also have a scrub plane iron that would be difficult with this jig.
And how about the honing on water stones? I've got a crowned roller on order for my LV Mk II sharpening jig, hoping that will do the trick. I'm not sure if it will work for a variety of cambers.
Thanks
Todd
