Kirby recommends a harder wood like poplar to practice on.

>it's funny, I haven't worked with pine in years, and I was really suprised at how hard it was to chop effectively, I had to stop and hone my chisel.

>Grumble grumble? you for got to say how much he sucks! I don't even have a #2 unless you count that European one that is realy a #3 size plane. but I do have the custom made #1 nailed on my bench as a drawer pull. some day I am going to retire on that one.
