Pay the Man . . .

>OK, I've been eye balling, reading and sweating for a week now. Every time I start to touch my OLD saw blades with a file I go into spasms. I know, deep in my heart, they are not even close to where they need to be just to start out learning to sharpen them. Sooooooo . . . I need some one to send them off to in order to have an idea what they should look like. I'd like to mail them off and have a pro start me off. Suggestions ?

>I can understand a person who might not want to mess up a new Independence saw, but if it's old and needs sorting out, what have you got to loose, you have the perfect opportunity. One doesn't learn filling on the trip to the post office. Tom Law, and Dynamite Payson have good enough instructions to get started with. If you can't file what makes you think you can saw? If you can saw why fear filling?

>Sharpening one's own saw is one thing. A saw needing new teeth completely is another. Cheaper to pay someone to punch new teeth and then sharpen it oneself.
If I absolutely have to file in new teeth I can count on needing to use 2 and sometimes 3 files. The cost and time just isn't worth it. But certainly doable.
