I have been lurking for a while and thought I'd introduce myself. I am a hobby woodworker who switched over to almost exclusive handtool use about a year ago. This switch was prompted by a move, which caused me to give up my detached garage shop. I now work in my small basement. To my surprise, I think I get more done. I can slip down there more frequently and work quietly. Also, I feel my house is a safer environment for my young children.
Anyway, the main power tool I still use is a circular saw for ripping. However, after trying bow saws and japanese saws, I am gravitating to traditional western style saws for this operation.
I recently acquired two saws made by Sheffield Saw Works. One is a rip. The other is a crosscut (No. 159). Does anyone know anything about these saws? Thanks!
