Slot depth . . .

>Again, I've read a lot of articals with no real "final word". Is there a general rule for the depth of the slot to hold saw blades in the handle. I'm about to cut the slot into a stair saw but am going to wait for opinionsbefore I trash the effort so far.

But, while we're at it . . . what 'druthers would apply to ALL hand saw handles ?

>Hi Steve,

No, no standard hence no final word...

I always go by the saw's usage, which determines the height of the blade needed which in turn determines the height of the body part of the stairsaw.

I always leave at least 1/4" of solid wood between the bottom of the blade's kerf to the lowest point of the "saddle" of the stairsaw.

Take care, Mike
