>use carbon paper to trace the outline. But I prefer to stipple--poke an awl or other sharp object through the paper to make dots on the blank, then connect the dots on the blank.

If I was transferring that design, I would spray adhesive the design on the blank and use an Exacto kife to incise the design into the wood. This method helps when I have trasfered carving matterns I've drawn before.
Two things--you need two copies if both sides are being done, and it helps to sand the sides to a fairly high grit first to the incised lines show well.
Then I take a v-tool and lightly deepen the lines. The paper shold sand off fairly easy if you don't use too much adhesive. I've also used those glue-sticks and a thin layer of white glue before.
