Dakota looks happeir than you can say...I know well that labs love water and mud, etc,,,,,they'll roll in it all, wtach out for that "windmill" tail too....enjoy the fun!

Here's another rescue - this time a dilute calico cat. Obtained through the "pound", Jennifur joined our two Maine Coon cats about 5 years ago, and instantly became the "queen bee". She even pushes around 23+lb Purrcival if he gets too close...

I thnk that "resue" pets know thatthey've been saved and are just that much better as pets.

Mycat Sugar is a rescue of sorts. she came to us as an unwanted cat by a lady who found her as a pregnent stray, took pity on her and took her home so she could have her kittens. she gave away the kittens and was looking for a home for the momma when we found her. She's been a wonderful cat, and was the momma of SweetHeart.

>with all the animals in need, I can see no other way one should get their pet. All of my animals (13 cats plus ferals, 5 in the house, 3 in the garage, 3 in the shop, 2 ferals that are tame and others) and 4 dogs are all abandoned/rescued animals.

With some many in need, I just can't imagine obtaining an animal any other way. Out here, the local Pets Mart, etc., team up with the county animal shelter and show their animals for adoption. It's a real good program.

Enjoy your new pooch, he looks like a great lab (aof course I've yet to meet a lab which wasn't great).

We make sure he gets plenty of water. That's much less of a problem here in Greenwich than it can be in Austin. We had another .4" last night, and so far this evening another 1.0" of rain.

Yesterday, we put up the flags to begin to train him where the invisible fence is located. Surprisingly, he knew immediately what the flags mean, even without wearing his "pager". That was unexpected, but very good news.

Uh Oh. Sounds like a smart one.

>Yup, we flew him home. Cindy found an alternate connection on American, departing before dawn, through Chicago, which was on the back side of the cold front. Also, the weather in Phily was wet but not hot, so the dawg didn't have any problems. She left him, in the huge crate we bought in Austin, with a skycap while she took the bus to the economy lot to get my car. I had use-or-lose tickets, through Dulles, so I got to sleep in. They waited in the cellphone lot, tossing and fetching racquetballs, while I flew and picked up the rest of our luggage. Just enough room in the Corolla wagon for both of us, the dog, the crate and the luggage. We got home after dark.
