>Tried several machine shops in town to get the bead blasting done,went back a couple days later and not done. Droped it off at my local bike shop and had it that afternoon ! Man - those Bikers (me included), eh ? Almost too pretty to paint ! Came out good though. No "extra" pitting. Ready to Japan ! Once more into the breach !

>Once I introduced it to Mr. Wire Wheel it looked presentable. AND . . . still have'nt figured out just how the "lever" is set into the "cap". The thought of un-installing it left me "nervy" ! Also ( take it or leave it) I liked the wheel mounted into the drill press better. At that angle you can see the nooks and cranies in the underside better. JUst a thought. And Thank You ! This is fun !

Do you have it in hand, the Stuff I mean. Silver can, two lid clips and a white printed label. Cook it when the wife will be gone for a while! I ended up getting a sand blast cabinet. Can�t wait to see how it works out for you.

I really don't want to bad mouth him if hes out-o-the-office. Did you get yours from Bill Gustafson ? I'd REALLY like to start this but I've seen some of these concoctions that warn NOT to bake 'em. Work here at home now so baking it while shes at work is no sweat.BUT . . . her coming home to a "fried" oven might cause problems !

That's the stuff. I retired from the Marine Corps and most of my stuff is still in boxes. I have the directions somewhere and I also have some information that I got from the web. I can't put my hands on either. I am betting it's out in my storage shed at the back no doubt. I just can't remember the temp. I did three coats... Coat let dry then bake, cool, recoat, leave set for twenty four hours to dry and then another round in the oven. Smells like you are roofing the house with hot tar. I have also tried pulverized or ground 78 records with shellac. That stuff is wicked black and stains something fierce. The denatured alcohol will break down the records. Strain it thru pantyhose or what ever and then add shellac to increase the shine. Those old records are mostly wax and shellac. I have all of my experiments with that in the same binder�..

By the way . . . how did you bring yourself to part with records ? Retired ARMY myself and besides smoking and old tools my record collection is one of my last vices ! VERY interesting experiment though ! ONLY a Grunt or Jarhead would dream THAT one up ! (I'm laughing WITH you!). Thank you, SIR !

My brother has thousands of them. He collects and sells Edison�s, Victoria�s and such. He has tons of them that are broken or in non useable condition so I use those. Did you get the directions? Was I close?

>Jimi Hendrix, well these records only play on 78 and were out of fashion before he was born. I am not that old but the records are. The 33 RPM�s are vinyl and I am afraid they might not work however I have not tried so perhaps they will. The old 78�s are what you are after. By the way if you drop it (the mixture) on the garage floor it will still be there when you move. Charge extra for the modern art on the floor or the virgin Marys face that appeared on the floor or perhaps you can market the stains as psychological ink spots� They will be there for a long time to come.
