>Ok, heres the deal....I have a 1950's #3 that I've been perfectly content with. today while roaming the local flea market, I happened upon an extremely poor 5 1/4.....no iron or cap, broken tote, broken sole (and I mean broke....there was a mending plate wretchedly holding it together.....I was thinking of offering a buck because it's got a solid machined frog on it that I thought I could sell on ebay....I didn't buy it, but would it fit my #3? (it has one of those raised rib frogs.....anyone know? thanks. oh yeah...I did pick up a 12" no name back saw for a buck.....something to practice sharpening on......
I went to the New York State Fair today......got to see a working 1876 blacksmith shop, very cool.....and meet the coolest hand tool guy I've come face to face with yet....his name is nick nichols out of robbinsville, NC.....he gave me a good primer on saw sharpening and we traded some stories. very cool to meet a likeminded person...sorry for the rant but what a great day...
