spam program?

>Looks like some sort of automated spam posting program. Strange, I wonder if it is doing multiple posts on multiple boards simultaneously. I wish you guys the best of luck in controlling it, and if I find the people I will take them out and tar and feather them myself.

>I just spent the past two hours harvesting the IP addresses that all these spams came from, and they were from all over the place. This program apparently is using mail servers to send these spams. FWIW, other sites that use this forum software are also being targeted.
Interestingly, there were no posts from any of the IPs that are already on our banned list, so it is definitely working. The problem with the automated spam, of course, is that it is using proxies to send the spam.
Dan, Alan and William deserve a lot of credit for staying ahead of the spam. Let's hope that we can keep it under control. If not, it could mean we will have to take more ambitious steps to stop it.
