>Recently I have received e-mails at the rate of one or two a week from people who claim to have purchased something from me on Ebay. I have bought several things on Ebay but I have never sold anything. The most recent one had an item number which I copied and pasted on Ebay and it DID look like a legitimate auction that had ended but I was not shown as the seller so it isn�t a case of someone using my name and e-mail address.

Is this a new form of phishing or is there some kind of bug in Ebay�s setup that is allowing an e-mail sent to someone else to show up in my mailbox.

>I got hit with one of these. Without thinking, I signed on only to find out I sure hadn't purchased the item. I think this is a way of phishing to get your ebay password. Once the slimebucket has that, I guess it's possible to wreck havoc with your account, in ways I care not to imagine.

I realized the scam immediately, and promptly changed my password.

The item was similar but not the same size as I was looking for so I knew something was not right. I went to e-bay and checked my messages and it was not there. They had my user name and my real name on the e-mail. So watch out! They're very good at this.
