G'Daughter's Doll Bed

>I styled this after the bed made by Jeff Greff (sp?). I found it somewhere on the web. I used the following LV plans: LA Jack, LA Smoother, Scraping Plane, and a card scraper.

The head & foot boards are solid mahogany glued along the bottom, free on the sides and have expansion room via an unseen groove in each of the cap boards. The joints are all double doweled. Finish is clear shellac. Wood is scrap mahogany and a piece of scrap maple ply for the bedboard. Spirograph was used to route the head/foot panels.

My grand-daughter and her mom will be hand sewing the mattress, pillow, sheets, etc. One down, one to go.

>Nice job, Frank. My grandfather made me a pencil post doll bed, which was lovely; however, my most treasured item, even today, is the small ladder back chair he made me. Now, if I could only wrest it from my sister's greedy grip... :)

>Very nice carvings (stampings?)! Great touches. Incidentally, I'm in the process of making two doll beds myself (my daughters are extremely impatient). And yes, they and mom will be making the mattresses, blankets, and pillows. Eventually I'll make each a doll's bedroom.
