Context is everything.

If the line was spoken by the character called "house", that matters; he is a completely irasciable genius, who LIKES DIAGNOSING ILLNESSES.

From his perspective, he's seeing norm as a candidate for an interesting wound.

And House is such a self obsessed genius, he thinks (from his POV) that everyone (who isn't him) is a moron.

Thus - the writer's don't think Norm's a moron, "House" does, and he's a fictional induividual with explicit character flaws.

I still can't get over watching Hugh Laurie playing a genius. The first memorable character I ever saw him play was the bumbling Prince Regent George in "Blackadder the Third."

Hugh Laurie can only be Georgie ever since.

In all of it, he is a fool with great physical comedy and a total buffoon. House is quite a shock, though "Sense and Sensibility" gave something of a preview.

An incredibly well rounded artist with true talent.

I saw no ill will directed towards the Normster in your post Brad. I saw it has merely pointing out that Norm has really made the Big Time to get mention on a totally non WW show.

I didn't know that the guy who plays House was the same guy that played Wooster in "Wooster and Jeeves". Now, where does he appear in BlackAdder? Perhaps I haven't seen the episodes with him in it, but I'll be more watchful for him. I like Boric, he's a real riot, much like Manual on Fawlty Towers. I think British comedys in general are fantastic, and I wish I got more of them.

I've seen House only once and didn't pick up on the fact that he was Wooster! I'm stunned to learn this.

Norm is a real person, with real feelings. He is a teacher, not a Hollywood celebrity with press agents, etc., and not a comic. I don't know if he reads WoodCentral. I don't know if he watches "House", either. He is in a completely different world than House, and other fictional, humorous characters. The character played by Tim Allen on ToolTime came immediately to mind, even before I received an e-mail referencing behavior which might be considered beyond the limits of common sense.

Most of us have been watching TV most all of our lives. Some who are younger than most of us might have a bit of trouble differentiating real people from fictional characters or programming from advertising. I am concerned that way too many people may even have difficulty differentiating "Reality" shows from Fox News.

I posted my original warning as "Admin!" because I think it is important that we are cognizant of these issues. If I were sure that the original post was an intentional personal attack on a real person, we would not be having this discussion, because I would have deleted the post outright. That we are having these discussions also indicates that not everyone here interprets "personal attack" or "we have rules against" the same way.

Brad, you shouldn't call yourself a moron. We've all done stupid things, and made stupid, or at least uninformed, choices. As long as we continue to learn from our mistakes, and continue to share our hard-earned wisdom with others, we are better than that appelation.
