using hyde glue

>When using hyde glue for large surfaces, how do you keep it hot enough? Do you do a few inches at a time and then hammer it down and then move on to the next few inches of veneer? I know that it is forgiving, but I have not mastered doing wide glue ups. Thanks in advance.

>I warm up the wood a little & increase the room temperature if I have large glue ups. If it's too large for warming in an oven, I have a heat gun I use to warm things up. You can use it for rewarming as well -if the glue cools before you can get to hammering the veneer flat.
Also, there are different grades of hide glue- generally the stronger the glue, the quicker it sets up. You don't need the real super strength for veneer, so use the weaker glue that gives you more open time.
