Wood match for 1/4 sawn sycamore?
Gary Miller
>Hi
I'm building a 24"W x 36"H x 6"D lighted wall hung display cabinet. Glass shelves and glass door in a wood frame.
Sides and top and botom will be 1/4 sawn sycamore--highly figured. I am going thru my wood stash to find the "right" wood to build the door frame (1.5" wide stock probably). Don't have enough sycamore for the door, and I want to use wood I have.
Thought I'd get some ideas from you all. It's tough to find a wood that complments due to 1/4 sawn sycamores texture, figure and mixed color. Don't know whether to try and do a subtle color match--like maple, ash or flame birch, or to contrast completely w/ walnut, mahogony or cherry
Choices are curly maple, curly & regular cherry, curly and regular walnut, hondoran mahogony, flame birch, bubinga, curly ash, curly oak.
Any suggestions or experience w/ sycamore?
Thanks in advance.
Gary
