I see more of the Bishop versions. They had a different method of holding the adjustable back at the toe, but otherwise they are very similar.

Todd probably sees a bunch of the Disstons, but I have only held maybe 3 in many years and only seen a couple on eBay.

Personaly I think of them as sort of a "gimick" saw and by the large numbers I don't see I don't think tradtionaly many people wanted them. Kind of neat I guess maybe I should dig around for mine and clean them up.....Todd

Todd now I have a No. 80 and #14. These finds for me are very Toddesque. Although I didn't pay a buck or two for them, I did quite well nonetheless. As for gimmicky- I already put mine to use. It's kinda coo.

Mine took what seems forever to heal enough to use it OK. I was jointing a saw using a metal jointer and the file spit out the back and my index finger, which was resting on the file, went down onto the teeth of the saw. A thick handsaw. Might have had wide flats on the teeth, but my finger went down over a 1/4"...still hurts using it to type.

I'll hoist one tomight hoping yours heals much faster and better!

the stitches are now out but the gash hasn't healed properly. It's still open but I'm sure will close. I assume the bone is OK too.

I'm sure it'll be close to normal although the nail and bed are questionable.

I've had a lot of deep cuts on my hands with hand tools but the table saw makes such a mess.

Using them cheap-o blades. Get one from Forrest* I hear tell that they slice meat very cleanly. ;~)

Glad to hear that things are looking well.......considering.

Got to admit that you may have saved me from a TS accident over the weekend. Long story short I was using the crosscut sled on some plywood and I needed to remove a narrow scrap and just as I went to pick it up I thought to myself "Let me double check where the blade is so I don't do a Vlad, and sure as shootin' the scrap was lying right up against the blade! I had not pulled the sled as far back as I had thought. That's the value of posting Accident reports when they occur. So many Thanks for that.

* I've never used a Forrest blade, nor do I have any finanial interest in their sales.

Actually I would of been a eight finger Galoot as I was about to pick up that scrap with my thumb and forefinger using my left hand, which I am lefthanded, so that would of really stunk.

Guess I'll pass on the sawstop for now and just be more careful. I had just put on a brand new Black and Decker 40 tooth Parranha blade, which I think is also a thin kerf, and it it was running very smoothly and quietly. Man, I darn near got it.

There is never a time when I am in the shop that I'm not thinking about something that I heard/learned right here on WoodCentral! I an sincere when I say that it was your thread that made me double check where that blade was.

As Steve Mackay stated a week or so ago, I Love this place.
