>Here you go Todd! I had an ece scrub plane blade kicking around for several years, and I had a some ofcutts of the bench maple that weren't good enough for the bench. I just figured it would be good enough for the task then at hand, but it's served me well over the last 10 years. I find the ece blade is really useful, but it's an extreme shape, I have some home made Clark and Williams clones I use for softer curves, though the ece still gets the most use.
When I made this plane, Maple was not on my list of serious plane woods, and I didn't expect the plane to last well. I covered it with bee's wax and oil, and it has never worn through the finish let alone the maple. So i don't bother with tropical hardwood any more.
