Help! Need to escape on July 29th.

>The company picnic is on July 29th. Attendence is nearly mandatory, but I think I can escape if I can say I registered for a really important event and can't cancel my registration.
So now I need help finding a really important event on July 29th that I just have to attend. Preferably woodworking related.
Any suggestions appreciated.

>Play horseshoes in between volleyball games. I really think horseshoes is the ticket. Now if they're gonna have square dancing, that can be good too, with a beer in one hand. Try not to get stuck with cooking hamburgers all day.

That is the day I have volunteers over for my
annual cleanup of the shop.
I'll sign you up, you'll be the first to volunteer.
Other events here:
- sharpen plane and chisel irons
- lap plane soles
- flatten water stones
- tune cabinet saw, bandsaw, jointer
- empty dust collectors
Chock full of activities to keep you busy with :)

Understand that this is Cincinnati and the game at picnics isn't horseshoes, its "cornhole". No, not that kind! Get your mind out of the gutter. It's like a bean bag toss except you try to put a bag full of dried corn through a hole in a board, apparently while trying to drink all the beer you can. Nobody knows how the game ends, 'cause nobody's been standing long enough to get there.
Of course, I don't participate in such things. I pursue more intelekshul things, like trying to take a woodworking course with a bunch of galoots so I don't have to play cornhole.

I know when you're an Honest person coming up with an excuse is difficult, because as we all know there is a fine fine line between an excuse and a lie.
Company/workplace picnics---yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeck! Tho it is fun to watch all the suckups in action.
