>I really like the Sandvik (now Bahco) scrapers, which are 1095 steel ranging from Rc48-52. I bought a handful (one can never have too many) of those years ago and use them all the time. I do like a couple even softer scrapers chopped and ground from an old saw.
Lee Valley really does offer quite a selection. The thins are pretty handy for final passes on some woods and esp. for leveling finishes, and their hard-milled scrapers are great for scraping glue lines, rosewoods and harder exotics. That thick 1mm scraper pretty much stays at the bench when I'm using epoxies. I keep a couple sets of miniature scrapers at my jeweler's bench. One set has seen several reshapings -- I've filed a series of half-circles in progressive diameters on two of the long edges and use them for scraping wood, ivory, whatever. They're great for tapering sable brush handles and thin tool and escapement file handles.
