Contact LV customer service, they'll take care of you. That's what is great about our two quality new plane manufacturers--try that with Stanley...

>See if the bolt has backed out. Never know. If it didn't use to do it, something has happened. Maybe even look for small cracks where the bolt enters the movable piece, perhaps allowing the bolt to flex upwards. Or even perhaps the nut has begun to strip.

But like LN, LV will still handle the problem if you contact them.

If it never worked from the start I would suspect a milling problem.

If it worked fine and then started to act up check for gunk under the toe plate.

Nothing wrong with calling LV as I would suspect these planes have a lifetime warranty just like the LN's. Just because the plane is 3 years old doesn't mean you shouldn't be given technical support

If LV refuses to help you paint mural on it and sell it on Ebay. Maybe Todd will buy it ;)

Same problem here, and my plane sees daily, hard use. In fact, I'd be ashamed if Rob Lee saw the poor condition it was in. And there's no way I'm giving it up...it's the best block plane out there.

I suspect that my grip on the plane is to blame. When planing, my forefinger naturally rests on the throat adjusting knob and seems to be applying a slight force in one direction or the other...sometimes clockwise, sometimes counter clockwise. Seems kinda silly but ever since I noticed this, the throat has stopped moving.

Perhaps the throat adjusting lever on Stanley/Record/Millers Falls planes acts like a washer and stops this problem?

Doubt it; I have that problem with a Stanley 60.5 all the time.

Since Alf's post, I realize I also have the same problem with my 60-1/2, although not with my LV.
