new infill design I could use some feedback.

>Here are what I hope to be the final drawings of my new infill body. It is 9 long and 2.5 tall at the top. This drawing is for a 2 ironed plane but I will have one for a 2.5 too. The pics show bedding angles of 45,47,50,55 and 60. The sides are 3/16 brass and the sole steel.

Let em know if I goofed on the dovetails. They were a bit of a pain to get the mouth where I wanted it (about 1/3 back). I liked the mouth in them idle but it caused problems with holding the plane on my other infills.

Let me know if I goofed on the dovetails. They were a bit of a pain to get the mouth where I wanted it (about 1/3 back). I liked the mouth in the middle but it caused problems with holding the plane on my other infills. I plan on widening the mouth dovetail for better support.

>I like it Steve. Dovetails' proprtion, size & spacing looks right. The location of the mouth though... Is it too close to the center? Should be somewhere along the second "tail"? Perhaps the "hump" of the brass sides are appearing to be in the center. You know what I mean? How long is this? 9" or so?

Chico...

PS:Glad to see you back in infill arena, which seems like it's getting more ferocious than Colossium 200 years ago! ;-) Good luck Steve.

>the mouth is 1/3 back. I liked it centered but it caused holding problems on my last planes. it was hard to get the mouth and pins worked out. I am glad I am not doing the drawing.

I am having fun with my mill so I guess infills were next (G)

missing pic?

I really liked the rounded/sloped nose-and-tail of your original infill (as best I can recall it) - is the wood for this new rendition planned to be about the same shape as you did before?

>That third graphic starts with "file" instead of "http". Steve, if you can email me the correct link, I'll fix it for you in the original post.

Best, Ted

P.S. To me, too, the mouth looks a little close to the middle. If it's really one-third, that should be fine.

>Steve,

The only suggestion I'd make is to make the DT a little wider at the throat opening.

Nice looking design ... rj
