Cleaned up a couple of cheap chisels - some late model sears with some surprisingly tough steel. Got an excellent edge on them.
Also made my first shooting board. Followed plans found on line here. For some unknown reason was able to get all pieces dead square. (Love it when that happens.) I did break two phillip #2 bits off with the impact driver trying to drive screws through hard maple that I had already predrilled to with 9/64" bit. Even went so far as to wax the screws. Still broke the bits off in the screw heads.
The results were beyond my expectations. Very smooth operation. Used my #5C (type 11) for planing with the shooting board. First piece of wood through it was some scap mesquite. Checked it with my square and found it exactly 90 degrees. Sweeeeet. Had to stop to put the steaks on the grill.
