dining table

>Here are some pics of a walnut dining table with burl maple and dyed maple inlays. It is a sectional elliptical table with two inserts. The base is a wrought iron base that was supplied by the customer so I don't show detail of it. I used both hand tools and power tools to make it including a #7 plane and #80 scraper to flatten, router plane for inlay.

>I made a quarter pattern using 1/4 inch thick masonite and used it to guide an exacto blade to cut out the burl. I also used the pattern to cut into the walnut using a double knife I made using two exacto blades and one handle I made out of 1/4 inch plywood. I bolted the blades to the handle with two screws. I used an electrical router and a mortise bit to rough out the space. I used a router plane to trim right to my knife lines.
