>Did a little rust hunting on my vacation down there and on the way home, but mostly the the good rust found me.
SWMBO wanted to visit an ailing aunt and her cousin that was taking care of her. When her cousin found out I was going to spend my time hunting old tool she said had an old tool chest full of Hand Tools and no one to pass them onto. Humb(ul)ly I accepted the invitation to look at the chest that afternoon.
We picked through the chest she saving some of the tools for display in her house and had already taken all the planes. I explain to her what each of the tools were, and let her decide if she wanted it.
The saw is a 20", 9t/" Harvey Peace, with a pat date of July 3,1883. It has an additional echting of "MADE FOR THOMPSON & BETHUNE CONCORD, NH" The Spoke Shaver is a No. 51. A 24" Stanley No. 76 folding rule. There's also an odd 3/8 bit with no spurs and a hollow behind the lead threads MFD by E(?)land & Co.
Now the questions the curved pliers have the name Hammond and Philada on the hammer head and 5 on the other side. She kept the smaller #2 set. What are they used for?
The Chisels have P. C. CLOUGH on them, Brand name or owner?
Lastly a couple odd(?) bits for a brace, both are tapered, one is square, the other is half round with a flat side. Reamers?
