Sash plane update

>Cleaned up one of the sash planes last night (wiped off with Murphys Oil Soap and water). Under the grime was the stamped identification. It is an Ohio Tool Co. Sash plane. This means it dates from before 1913 (and probably before 1900). It is a 135 sash plane. Here is a picture of the catalog which describes it (isn't the Internet wonderful?).

>I can't really see using a sash plane. Lou gave me an old coffin plane, a saw vise and the three planes. I am going to clean all of them up. I reckon I can use the coffin plane (after I find out how to put in a new throat), the saw vise and plow plane. I gave him back the Ohio Tool sash plane with approximate dates. It was his great grandfather's. I will post pics when I can get to my camera.

You're a good man JL, that was a very nice thing to do. Really can't understand why he'd of given it to you in the first place tho. Guess it was "pretty" so therefore just junk is my guess.
