Hammer Veneering Question
Hank Knight in SC
>I'm going to try my hand at hammer veneering. I'm want to apply QSWO veneer to an 8" X 21" piece of 1/2" Baltic birch plywood substrate that has plastic laminate on the opposite face. It's for a door to a small cabinet for storing oil paint. Most, but not all, of the information I've read on hammer veneering recommends toothing the substrate (and the veneer in some cases) with a toothing plane. My question is whether my plywood substrate needs to be toothed. If so, is it possible to tooth Baltic birch plywood without cutting through the face ply, or does it matter if I do?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
