>If you want one brace and several bits mounted in pods, the bits are wedged in the pod kind of the way a chisel tang is set. The pod is a taper lock in the brace. If you go the one brace for each size bit route, the bit is just wedged in the same as a pod. I do 18th century living history events and I patterned mine after the Dominy's brace pattern. The original bits had more of a flat tang. Email me if you want pics. Hope this helps.

The bits are modern bits that I found several years ago. The bit has to be on axis as much as possible. The bit will run true itself but will make the brace wobble if its not on center. Not a big problem if its off a little.
