Marking Gauge . . .

>Finally found my rosewood and brass marking gauge. Dark petina and the scales are still readable ! Thing is the steel points are broken off. I just KNOW if I try to drill them out to replace them "at home" (as in dont try this . . .) I'm GONNA screw it up. Any suggestions ? I've looked around town (El Paso / Mexico) for a machine shop but found none I'd trust. Any guidance from the sages ?

>If you don't find any screws, as Pam suggests, they may be soldered into a metal piece. I have found them like this on old English gages and have found that by heating the solder I can sometimes push them out enough that I don't need to replace the point.
