I found one, for $15. It's in good shape but there's an empty threaded hole on it and I have no idea what goes in there since it works fine the way it is.

>As the link says, the extra hole is so you can unscrew one of the handles and attach it at a right angle to the other. This allows you to shave real close on one side. They also came with two bases and a fence. Fence is always MIA and most I have seen have the rounded base. It is a nice shave. Good luck with yours.

I'm afraid I haven't a clue, but it is Mr Leach's writing taken from The Electronic Neanderthal. IIRC I picked up the link on the Old Tools List but I can't recall who it was who took the trouble to put images to the text.

I have one of those! I picked it up a few years ago in Virginia when I was out antiquing while stranded at the in-laws for a week.
Like the referenced text said the thing is missing it's fence and I only have the flat sole (didn't know it came with all those extras). It's my favorite spokeshave of the 3-4 I have. All I did was sharpen it and it takes some nice fine shavings.
Does yours have flat or round?
