>I'm pretty sure ! I've matched it with " Blood & Gore " details ( brass nut w/o well, no number, adjusting rod paralel w/ sole, no lateral lever.) Its in El Paso's ONLY goodie shop so I don't want to show too much interest as I'm a "known-man" there and drive it up. What clinches it and breaks out the plastic ?

>You know they have made several different knock off copies over the years? I have seen a few and pretty easy to tell not a stanley from the lack of quality but I do know of people that have gotten fooled. Look at it good and any damage or missing parts will affect the price a large amount.While probably not the fact in this case but I think at large tool shows many [most?] of the no. 1's for sale have had major work such as welding etc. done to them.Often very hard to tell.Once had a guy show me one he had restored by welding a broken out side on and you could not tell other then the too new jappaning. Bet the guy selling it now has taken care of that.
If in very good condition probably a $1,000 -$1,200 plane at least....I'd being pulling the green out [no plastic here!] up to $700 myself ....Todd

>In cases like this I normaly look at some other junk [rusty shelton etc.] just as long as you would look at the no. 1 so as to not show your hand. At the auctions I go to it is for sure a large mistake to appear to be too interested in something esp. if people think you know something as it raises the chances of them running you.....Todd
