>What you've got there is a plane with a broken tote. Not hard to get replacement totes (can't recall who's selling them these days: look at tools for working wood, woodcraft, maybe Lee Valley), and some enthusiastic types even make their own. If the price is right, it might not be a bad purchase, but it would seem like there must be so many other No. 5s out there intact that "right" price would have to be pretty low.
