In cleaning out the attic the other day .... round one .... I came across an old plane. At first, I couldn't remember anything about it. Now, I believe it belonged to a former student that brought it in to the shop to clean it up and left it behind. We're talking 17 or 18 years ago easy, so it's cloudy at best.
The body has been sand blasted but now shows some surface rust. On the toe it says "BEDROCK" and on the heel it says "No 605". The lever cap is gone so there's nothing that says "Stanley" on it anywhere.

The only part missing is the lever cap. The frog and all it's parts are accounted for. The rear handle (tote?) has been broken and repaired and the front knob seems fine. Clean it .... flatten it .... find a lever cap and tune it .... maybe a hock iron and it should be a fine user.
So is it a Stanley Bedrock? It didn't seem as heavy as I'd have thought one to be. I've never paid a lot of attention to the old ones. Not enough mad money. The sides have the classic square shape at the throat and frog, so it looks the part.
Would anyone have been able to copy this and put the word "BEDROCK" on it.
Surely some of you tool/plane/Stanley hounds will know. Point me to a lever cap too, if you can.
