Look at it this way,if you pick it up cheap enough and it breaks you can still pay someone competent to fix it properly and still be money ahead.

Stanley's parts catalog lists a kit of parts for $20 - not cost effective.

Regardless, I would NOT count on the brazed lever cap being sound. The originals broke for a reason: they were somewhat fragile and easy to over-tighten. There's a fair amount of stress on the lever cap, and I don't think brazing would last very long. Over-tighten by a little bit and it'll probably break again.
