Conical sharpening stone question

>Anybody use these for sharpening in-canal gouges? I'm needed something to get my gouges into shape. So my question is oil or water slip stones? Witch do you perfer?

>When my dad and I sharpened his gouges, we used an India cone stone with oil. Worked fine. IIRC we didn't obsess on the final hone for the gouges and got them "sharp" but not "really really sharp". Most of the carving required additional refinement for the final finish so the surface from the gouge wasn't super critical. YMMV JR
