A couple of plane questions

Any idea what the No 50 is worth? From what I can find on the net it was made between 1890 and 1900. It has all the original cutters and the box for them. No rust or wear and most of the cutters have never been sharpened.
I need to clean the Record. Just clean the dirt off, lap the sole and sharpen. How is mineral spirits for loosening the dirt without desolving the Japanning? Can I soak it for a while? I'll probably use white scotch bright with the MS.
