Breast drill question and request

>I was at a business meeting yesterday and today, getting out a little early (yay). The local paper listed some estate sales, so I diverted on the way home, and found some items, one being a Stanley breast drill (model 743) with a chuck for square tapered shanks. I'm curious - did they sell this model for people who already had a lot of square-tapered-shank bits besides auger bits? The purpose of an eggbeater drill, which is fairly high rpm's and moderate torque, seems to run counter to the effective use of auger bits (high torque, lower speed). I know, having gathered some, that many twist bits and some other bit types were made with square taper shanks, but it seems so limiting somehow compared to a simple straight shank.
It came without the breast plate - this model has a simple 1/2" shaft to which the breast plate attaches with a setscrew (grub screw to those speaking the Queen's Engish). If anyone has an extra breast plate to trade for something else, let me know.
