>I'm cheating, because I don't have the Heckel book on Sargent planes. Over the weekend I picked up a Sargent 411C, which is the equivalent of a Stanley 5 1/4 C. I know that finding the Stanley would be a gloat-worthy event. Does anyone have Heckel's book, or an insight into the market value of the Sargent? Thanks.

>Books for $125 to $250 and was made from 1926-46...While i have never sold a 411C In my experance selling many other Sargents on ebay including a few uncommon ones it is very hard to get anywhere near the prices given in this book reliably even when in excellent condition. While there are exceptions on the whole not alot of collector interest in most Sargent planes.....Todd

>Last spring, before I learned anything much about Stanley planes, I saw a plane that was alleged to be a "Stanley 411" in an antique store in Eureka Springs for $55. I know it had a Stanley lever cap but I was sure at the time that there was no Stanley 411. After getting into buying Stanley and Sargent planes, I have become convinced it was a Sargent 411. As I recall, it was in really nice condition. I have rarely seen a 411 on E-Bay but there is a rusty one for sale on e-Bay right now, item number 6257549164. You might watch to see how well it goes. There is no indication that it is corrugated.

>I agree with Todd. My experience with Heckel's prices in general seem high compared to observed e-bay prices.

Still is an excellent resource though...
