Plane Iron Question

>As I mentioned some time ago I have a Stanley 45, C1895, with 19 of the 20 irons listed (I have the original list that came with it). I am missing the Sash iron. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Making sash

>As someone who often makes sash, I can say that the width of the 45 sash cutter (1 1/2") makes it less useful than it could be. Most of the jobs I get are for sash in the 7/8 to 1 1/8" thick range and the Stanley cutter is useful only in the 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 range. There is also a 1 3/4 cutter available.
Making sash by hand gives a fine product but it is a lot of labor, so it pays to use flawless straight grained material. On such material I have used the Stanley cutter without tearout problems.

>Thanks, people. I have no plans to use the iron. I simply want it to fill out the set. I do use some of the other irons and they work well. I am currently making a new box. The original is, to be polite, shot! I have saved the Stanley sweetheart steel nameplate and the printed info on the irons including some testimonials. The plane cost $8 when new.
