>I don't know anything about collectable axe heads or this particular bidder, but there do seem to be a number of people who can't quite comprehend ebay's automatic bidding system. When two or three of them get the hots for the same item the number of bids can reach an amazing level.

>Looks like a very large head in very good condition by a pretty desirable maker. In my experance it is rather unusual to find axe heads that weigh 5 lb. , most are 4 lb. or under. Also judging by the high bidders ebay name he might have a special attraction to things named Mann. I think the reason he bid so often was that he was just trying to feel out the back up bidders high bid.
...Good axe heads can go very well on the ebay esp. embossed ones. I have sold many over $200 and a few over $400. I normaly cut the handles off befor I list them to make it easier to ship by the way....Todd
