>Well folks. I will not be staying in touch with this board for some time. Admittedly, I've been somewhat desultory in that contact lately but that has been due to work and house maintenance consuming all available time to the expense of relationships of all kinds.

In one week, I will be in Brisbane with my family to follow some time behind me. This week will see me somewhat busier than usual preparing myself to go so I don't even know how much time I will spend on this board if any. It sure is not going to be easy but the long term has good prospects.

I've lived in Sydney for 23 years of my 44 year life span and it sure feels strange already!

Anyway, I will be sure to catch up again and let you know how things went, or didn't :-)

As you know from some old discussions, I lived in Brisbane for a while, as well as Gladstone, QLD. Brisbane is one of the only cities in the world that I would rather live in than my hometown of Calgary.

Brisbane is truly a nice place as long as you don't mind the heat and the never changing weather ("quote from the weather forecast....today, fine, tomorrow, fine, next day after that, fine..."). The only interesting weather forecast that I heard during my stay was one day when it was "sultry".

One thing I liked about Brisbane, compared to my home town, is that there is plenty of interesting architechtural woodwork around - things like the Queenslander style housing, some of the interior scroll work, etc. Many interesting woods are available from local, usually small, sawmills but I never found a true, convenient "hardwood" source.

You'll have to cheer for the Maroons now :-)
