>Here is my Smith & Sons tenon saw. It's nominally a 10/11 ppi, about a 12 1/2" blade--thought it was longer. Barely can still see the German Steel stamp. Not bad for its age, though. No kinks, cracks or bad pitting.
I did move the spine upwards to straighten a slight bow along the tooth line.

>Do you think the handle is a replacement? Looks like it to me, unusual to see an open handle on a saw of this size and it is a very suspicious when ever you see that the saw nuts are in the handle backwards ......Todd

I'm not certain, of course. The bolts/nuts were backwards when I bought it.
I did take it apart. The staining on the blade shows the present outline without another outline under the present handle. Holes show no evidence of being filed to fit, that sort of thing.
Neither is there a ghosting of a different handle outline apart out from this handle on the visable blade. So if it were replaced, it was a long time ago.
