Nice work on your first bench and your custom made tools. I like to see folks who are resourceful and use what materials and tools are at their disposal. You probably have less invested in that bench than many have in their dovetail saw, yet it has everything that is functionally required of a hand tool bench. A great example of Less is More.

>the holdfasts work pretty well definatly hold stuff down and you can really beat on them if you want but they are probobly not as good as the hand forged ones but four of them only cost me about $12

>i cut a 3/4 dowel down the center at a slight angle for the spring i drilled 2 angled holes and chiseled a grove between them i then inserted a piece of spring wire into the two holes and this works to hold the dogs in place so the dont fall through the top. They work well
