>Last night, I got my nice, shiny new LV LA Jack plane, and as I tested it out, I noticed it was leaving a deep groove in the board. A little inspection showed a ding on the right front corner that bumped out the sole, taking it out of flat and leaving the groove. I called up LV this morning, and they are already shipping me a new one, even before I've returned the damaged one. Now that's nice!
In the short time I played with the plane, it was a nice tool. Beefy chunk of iron, nice thick blade, and very easy adjustments. Was still taking shavings even with the sole problem. It came pretty sharp, but I'd hone it further. Funny thing, though, I didn't see or feel any anti rust coating, which the manual says to remove. Maybe it was a really light coat.
Now I'm really looking forward to using the plane for real. Oh, standard I'm not affiliated, just happy customer type stuff.
