>Which just happens to be a LV LA Jack. I like working with the older planes, but I currently have nothing in my toolbox that actually works well, so I figured I needed at least one good plane to get going. From everything I've read, plus a lot of input here on many threads, this seemed to be a very good bang for the buck. Plus, I received a little $200 dollar project bonus, and the plane is $189, so that worked out pretty well. I threw in a little 4" engineers square because I don't have one of those either.

Now, though, I just have to wait patiently. I'm looking forward to building some shooting boards, even miter shooting, and hopefully getting to some better joinery since I'll better be able to true and square up boards. I don't have a power jointer, and the old table saw doesn't always but too perpendicular, so I need to help things along after the cuts.

Don't worry old tool guys and gals, I still plan on hunting for them too. Plus, I'd like to try making some wooden planes, ala Krenov style.

>The only LV plane I've got is my LA block so I cannot comment on the jack. I can say that you will love the engineers square. Such a simple little thing but I use mine ALL the time.
