>I started this forever ago I picked up a Stanley 81 with a broken handle for next to nothing I sold the rose wood base and the screws for some pretty good money. So I decides to saw off the other handle and grind every thing flush on the sides. then I used some Rose wood that I had and made a totes and a stylized front knob all with a base the same width as the #81 then I mounted it all on a peice of rose wood #/8" thick and stuffed it inside this Brass plate that I bent this weekend I still need to cut the slot for the blade and round the corners off the brass and screw it all together. but this gives you an idea of what I have made. a Custom #81 scraper plane with a brass sole and sides.

>Hi Ernie,

Wow! That looks really great! I didn't get to make a brake - guess I'll do that next week. I did get a bunch of saw blades cut out though and finished the little flush cutting saw I was working on. The flush cutting saw cuts really well in spite of my really crappy sharpening job.
