"Foreign" wooden smoother?

>Hey, everyone -
I recently sniped my way into a little 6" coffin smoother to become a project compass plane for smoothing Windsor seats. Said plane arrived today, and it's a nice little plane - tight mouth, soild body, no blown cheeks. The only mark on it is on the iron; it's stamped "Foreign".
Anyone have an idea what that means?
